Hi all,

Well, my 1/48 Revell F-15E is finally finished. Took me almost 20 years to get back into the swing of things but I'm quite happy with how it turned out as some of the techniques I used were new to me and some I had to figure out on my own ;-) Wanted to post it here to get your feedback... the good, the bad and the ugly...

I have written up an article for ARC that is going to be posted in a few weeks that talks about the build and the techniques used in detail... thanks Steve :-)

Thanks Aaron for donating the correct LAU rails and AIM-120's for my project... and thanks F-15CrewChief for putting up with all my questions and thanks to all you ARC'ers who also helped - not only in encouraging my build but with your suggestions and helpful guidance. This online community is by far one of the best I've ever encountered!

Here it is...

I've told you this before, but WOW!!!! You did an amazing job my friend. I am glad that I could help with the pylons, decals and missiles. Thank you for showing me how to do the panel lines. I am truely in your debt for that. Can't wait to see your F-4G and F-14B.

Hey guys,

Well, firstly thanks for all the kind words...

Jamie: In terms of how long the build took... well 6 months off and on really... what with a family a full time job which includes a bit of travel doesn't leave me too much spare time... but what little I have I worked on it bit by bit ;-)

Chris: the article I wrote is not as detailed as perhaps you guys think... still i did outline my techniques... I might write up an even more detailed one and have Steve post it... let me take a crack at a more detailed one. I think as I build my F-4G I will do an extremely detailed article like the one I did on a 1/33 scale Halinski P-51 (paper model):

Yup, I can certainly relate to your situation....... :)

Once again, that is a beautiful build. Looking forward to seeing your article and more builds, of course!

Zach: ah, the burner cans... well to begin with I use Citadel acrylics for all hand painting (and Gunze acrylics for airbrushing). These were first hand painted with Citadel acrylic gunmetal (Citadel acrylics need to be thinned with water otherwise I find them too thick). Then I applied a VERY generous wash, again made from Citadel acrylics (about 80% water, 18% black, 2% dishwashing liquid). Once dry I then dry brushed with more gunmetal. That's it really... The cans were frist done this way and the 'actuactors' were done right on the sprues in the same way. The 'actuators' were then cut out and any cut marks touched up with a bit of gunmetal mixed with a touch of black (so you can't even see where the cuts were made). Then they were glued onto the cans.
