EA-6B / F-4J/S question

I have the Hasegawa 1/72 EA-6B Prowler, High Visibility (E8). I also have Hasegawa's F-4J/S "Low Visibility" (834).

Both models have decals for USS Midway birds. The Hasegawa kit says the VF-161 Chargers F-4S Phantom is from 1982. However, the EA-6B kit has no information of when that scheme was used. I think it would be cool to represent both kits in the same time frame. Any of you guys know if this is possible using kit decals?

Is this the scheme you are asking about?

The Gull Grey over the flat white? If so this was standard on all EA-6B's from their introduction till about the mid 80's (1986 or 1987 the date is kinda of fuzzy according to my sources)

No hard evidence, but I strongly believe so.

I do know someone who used to fly E-2B's for VAW-115 'Liberty Bells' around the same timeframe.

Maybe I could ask him and see.

Here it is. Not the same jet as in the kit, but wearing the same colours.

According to your friend's website this was 1980-1985, so I guess I can use the kit's markings.
