Is this the approach of which you speak?

That flight originates out of here, MIA, where I'm currently working and when I first saw that video I checked with a few of the AA guys who fly it and they said that they normally turn off the GWS on approach, if your not wheels down by 700 ft (the second paved area on the left) you must execute a missed approach as you will run off the end of the R/W and into a 75 ft ditch. The 757 is the biggest a/c that can operate out of that field. All pilots on that route must have 2 live training approaches and full stop landings before certification and it cannot be flown from the right seat. Also there is no approach from the opposite end of the R/W as there is no room for a missed approach, it isn't even practiced. The takeoffs are easy, mains on the first brick, power to 110%, release breaks when the a/c starts skidding on the wheels ... pray in any language of your choice.

KAI TAK airport in Honk kong, involved approaching aircraft flying into a valley as part of the decent.

The airport on this approach was in the next valley and off to the right. The Video was shot from the mountain at the head of the approach valley on which was an extremely large checkerboard which indicated the point to commence the turn onto runway heading, a larger version of the chevron board similar to sharp corners on the road.

Having completed this turn, as can be seen from the vid aircraft approached a matter of feet above a residential area. No room for error.

Suffice to say a completely new airfield has been built with ocean approaches both ends.

Looks like any approach into Orange County.

The way you get vectored in there, particularly if you're arriving from the east, yeah, pretty much. :D

Jackson Hole and Eagle are interesting too.

KDCA in Washington DC is no fun from the north down the Potomac. Nifty right bank needed moments prior to touchdown over a damned bridge. Not fun did it in a T-39 and hated it. Leading edge slats sure chattered a lot! The field at Lajes, Azores is pretty tricky in most conditions.
