heretic
Im trying to go for the best recreation of the sidewinder for my hornet. I looked in the daco book. I they look kind of metallic greyish. Should I go with the old school way and paint them black or go with the metallic grey. Your input will be greatly appreacticated. Thanks gents.
jmel
Assuming you're referring to the seeker head part and not the missile's body, go with the metallic gray with a slight hint of a greenish tint. They've never been black, at least on the AIM-9L or M. Jake

Karl Sander
Correct above for the seeker head and fins (I use gunmetal now that I've learned NOT to use black!!). For the body itself I use light ghost gray.
RJ Tucker
I've found the Model Master enamel “exhaust†color is a good approximation of the metal-gray/green seeker head color. Be sure it’s the enamel line and not the metalizer line. (The exhaust shade in this line is a nasty black.) HTH!
Maverick
Thats something i've always wondered too, I use light ghost grey for the body, and steel for the head. I've seen some that have the body painted a bluish color, any info on those??
Grey Ghost 531
Model Master Helo Drab and Steel mixed work well to my eye.

Karl Sander
Those are inert training rounds If the body's blue, "rounds" is somewhat inaccurate. They're captive carry and never leave the wing - don't even have a rocket motor.
