some updates

sprayed the thermal blanket by masking..

also, many of the decals have already been stuck on. including the bright tails.

a late comer for the 1/144 fleet, is the new vandy 1 from VX-9.

playboy bunny was handmasked.

did the 6 ejection seats for the 1/72 trio. seat belts made from tamiya masking tape.

and more progress on my big 1/48 revell superhornet. will be made in the markings of vfa-31 tomcatters

i started with the exhaust cans, since i was spraying another phantom elswhere

and the revell 1/48 goes on.

black tail was sent for repair, with placard and putty, to fill back a portion where excess plastic was cut off by my spruecutter

a mix of black and tamiya clear was used to create a super high gloss black

a crude wash applied onto the grey, without any clear coat, this is to let some of the wash absorb and stain the grey paint

after wash cleaned up, and tamiya gloss applied at areas where decals need to be applied

mask the intakes to spray. this is crazy i will never do it again.

Very nice, One day would love to get my hands on some of the 1/144th stuff. Seams to places around here have a problem getting Dragon stuff and the net wants to much for me to thing about spending for shipping right now.

yes. if anyone hasn't noticed. all the squadrons that i am building are former tomcat operators..

here is my latest updates.

the revell kit was detailed with self made ACS pipes. built from placard, and then casted in a rubber mould and epoxy.

the vents were filled up and the vents superglued.

@greg - thanks bro! glad you liked it, i broke some drill bits trying to get those holes in the vents..

and finally, a quick snap of the Swarm on my living room floor. apologies for lack of proper studio photos, i will be doing that at the end of the year once i get a good booth setup.

3 hasegawa 1/72s, 2 48 italeris and the revell, and 9 dragon 1/144s. All the former US Navy Fighter squadrons that flew tomcats and converted to the SH are featured, and truly, the hi-vis schems tell us, "Legends never die"

Nice ...

I wish some other former Tomcat Squadrons like VF-1, VF-21, VF-24, VF-51, VF-84, VF-111, VF-114, etc were able to serve still ... :thumbsup:
