Think of that desert scheme the French Air Force applied to their Mirage F.1's for Red Flag, not to mention the complex camouflage schemes the Germans used in the second world war. My reasoning is that if one wants to keep a multi-million dollar aircraft safe and operational for as long as possible no effort will be spared to make that happen. Camouflage = survival.
