Brian P: Fightertown Decals
I know it wasn't a very popular set of markings, but something about it I always liked. Anybody got some good gouge on details like names on canopy, gear doors and buno and font styles... TIA -brian already hit up the usual online suspects. phantom
Not popular??? I would love to do that scheme or at least a line bird. CVW-8 VF-41 when on the Kennedy. Needs some decal love.
tomthegrom
I like that scheme also. A vf-41 sheet would be cool!
EF
Not much Brian, but here's a closer view: BuNo. 161160
Gabe
there is a 1/72 boxing from Airfix with those markings in it. http://images.ciao.com/ide/images/products...13__2438195.jpg
Brian P: Fightertown Decals
I wouldn't trust Airfix decals... -brian
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Ah, but that's where you come in, my friend! :D Jeez, the line birds from that cruise were one of my favorite VF-41 schemes ever! Terrific tail design. And, as you know, I'm about as biased as one can be in other directions.... <_<

Brian, you might want to try contacting Tony Holmes c/o Osprey Publishing.he shot pics on board the USS JFK when it was moored in the Solent July 1996 for his book Combat Carriers.there aren't any closeup pics but he might have more info for you or possibly pics. Darren Roberts
I love that scheme. Brian, if you do it, can I get credit for planting the idea in your brain? <_<
okthree
I've got a bud who flew with VF-41 during that time frame. He may have some gouge on that A/C. He's on cruise right now, but I can email him the picture and see what he might remember.
