Cobrahistorian
Hey all, Just shot a walkaround of the S-3B at the Pima Air Museum and was wondering if anyone had done decals for it? I hadn't found any online. Thanks! Jon

Cobrahistorian
PM sent. I'll upload the pics to my photobucket account when I get back from dinner. Jon
viper50
Are you refering to the VS-21 Decommisioning Scheme? A very cool insignia blue and gray paint job. Meteor Productions has a sheet; PYND 48034. I've had them for a while, trying to finish in this scheme, but can't seem to get the time to lately. Lots of reference stuff out there on this bird, I've researched it to death. Looking forward to seeing your pics. Don M. Edited September 9, 2007 by viper50
Cobrahistorian
Yep, that'd be the one! EDIT: Are they INSANE???? $30 for a decal sheet with ONE aircraft on it?! Edited September 9, 2007 by Cobrahistorian
Scot M
Yeah I know..... $30 is pretty steep.... But to add insult to injury,I bought one,and after I got it, Spongebob mentioned in a thread somewhere on here that the paint scheme was a total waste,as it had absolutely nothing to do with squadron history.....or something to that effect.I'll see if I can find the posting... Scot M
Well......I'm not having any luck finding it.Maybe he will chime in with his .02 cents on this one soon...
Chorse6
I bought one as well (you're right, very steep). Not sure of the details, but, I believe the point was the noseart/woman on the torpedo had something to do with another Squadron and not VS-21. If I'm not mistaken, it was on the VF-111 Sundowner F-14 (Miss Molly), who had another history on another aircraft. With that being said, don't really care. I like the noseart on WWII stuff and I wish the military would continue the tradition. I just like the look of the noseart and the colors (insignia blue) and look forward to building it. j-basset
Actually, about 2 years back, F-4DableModels had been given some walkarounds for the very same jet. We started work on it, and actually finished the painted ladies, but had to drop the project due to some business reasons. Anyway, certain happenings during the course of the last 2 weeks have made us contemplate taking it up again. Is there any demand for a second sheet on the same jet plus a line jet? Jason C. Scot M
With that being said, don't really care.I just like the look of the noseart and the colors (insignia blue) and look forward to building it. I completely agree... It's the only reason I bought it......to have an S-3 w/ cool nose art.Only other S-3's I can think of w/ nose art are Christmas related themes... Pinhead
Jason C. I would buy it, you could put me down right now, I won't pay $30+ on a 1 ship set. I say go for it add another one or two ships and you will do well. just my 2 cents
viper50
Jon, I would still like to see your pics you took. Thanks. Don M.
Cobrahistorian
Jason, I'm in the Tucson area for another four weeks. If you need any shots of the jet, please let me know and I'll get over there as fast as I can. We're flying nights for the next week and a half, so I should be able to get down there in the mornings. As for the pics I took, here's a couple! The rest of my shots are on my other computer, but you get the idea. BTW, Viper, LOVE the avatar. Rachel Weisz is a goddess. Lenny
Here is another site with info about the people who did the nose art. http://www.flightjacket.com/store/NoseartVS21.aspx Looks pretty cool!
viper50
Jon, thanks for posting those pics, I see they have moved her inside a building. The last pics I saw was on Prime Portal, really good walkaround pics there also. There is an Austrailian decal company, RONIN, I think is the name, they have a set of decals for this bird also. I looked for a link to their decals but have misplaced it. Again, thanks for the pics and yes, Rachel Weisz is a Goddess http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/bill_spi...ndex.php?Page=
EF
Yep Ronin, I have that VS-21 set in 1/72: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=118106

Archangel12
CobraHistorian (Jon), I know that it has been over a year, but might you have any more photos of the VS-21 S-3B in the Decommissioning Paint Scheme that you wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks. Hope you and your family have a great New Year. Cheers, Mike
