Steve Filak
Nah, the closest ones to me are either in Yonkers, or in Patterson, NJ. Both are nearly 100 miles away. You can get the frozen burgers in a couple of the local Stop-N-Robs, but it's just not the same.....
GreyGhost
Yeah, I'm about 90 miles away from the nearest one too but the local grocery stores etc have the frozen ones here too, we don't bother with those either ... Gregg
Karl Sander
Best Burgers I've Had: Jack's - Fallon, NV Rhino's - Bridegport DJ's Diner - Eureka NV Burger Bar - Las Vegas, NV Longhorn - Bow, WA Ed Debevic's - Phoenix, AZ I'm sure I'll think of more.
Steve Filak
I've pretty much sworn off McDonald's over the past year with the exception of the salads, but I tried one of those Angus Third Pounders the other night, and it wasn't bad at all. Not the usual McDonalds fare, it was quite good. However, I still maintain that the best burger is the one that comes off your own gas grill. Toasted bun, a nice thick slice of onion (they don't bother me at all), and either Ketchup AND Mustard or Peter Luger's Steak Sauce. This stuff is the Bomb Diggity. Cheese is optional. I like a nice cheeseburger, but I'll leave the cheese off if I'm using the steak sauce on the burger.
Karl Sander
The seasoning and/or marinading makes a world of difference. I have no idea what Jack's seasons their burgers with, but I'd eat trays of that stuff just for the flavor. Ye gods.
GreyGhost
The Best chain burgers are ButterBurgers by Culver's ... Excellent stuff ... Steve, the McDonald's around here don't have those 3rd pound angus burgers ... sounds good ... Karl, the Longhorn you speak of, is that the Steakhouse chain ? If so, they serve excellent steaks ... Karl Sander
The only Longhorn "chain" I know of is a BBQ joint born in Spokane WA - where at least one other wicked cool entity was born and raised. In fact, they're so good, they're my favorite post-game feed-stop in Pioneer Square Seattle.... 200+ miles west of the Birthplace of All That Is Holy. I'm wondering if you might mean Lonestar??? which is in fact a not-too-shabby chain steak joint...
Trigger
Gregg We've got a Longhorn Steakhouse here as well; I guess their steaks are ok. I don't go there often. The local restaurants (non-franchise) have better food and are no more expensive.
Steve Filak
I'm starting to wonder if we should rename this thread "FOAB Reflux". :D
GreyGhost
Nah, I see they're all east of you Karl ... Longhorn's Grant, I've eaten at the one in Sunset Hills, MO quite a few times and it's always been great ... could be the location/manager, etc ... Gregg
Karl Sander
In that case, applying the name "Longhorn" to that which is not truly Longhorn - or at the very least NAS Fallon SAR - is perilously close to blasphemy.
GreyGhost
They look good, if I'm ever up in Washington, I'll look them up ... Or ... do you think they deliver to Missouri ? . Gregg

Trigger
... could be the location/manager, etc ... Probably so, but I'm not worried. There's no shortage of good steaks here in town.

GreyGhost
Grant, I know what you mean about the locally owned restraunts too, where I live in rural Missouri, that's what we mostly have and there's quite a few really good places ... There's been an Applebees in the next town from us for over ten years now and I've never eaten there because the local folks are better in both food and price ...
