Sukhoi Supetjet airliner rolled out

Recommended Posts

thanx for the links DRHORNII.

I found some interesting facts from that info for example:

Wikipedia:

Sukhoi's director general Mikhail Pogosyan claims the SSJ will have 10-15% lower operation costs than its Embraer or Bombardier counterparts and its wider cabin will offer more comfort; at the catalogue price of $27.8 mln, it should also be cheaper by 18-22%. On the other hand, both Embraer and Bombardier offer much more comprehensive after-sales and maintenance network.

theres a balance on that, now if only could sukhoi work on the "after sales and maintenance" services...

I think we are going to see a bussines jet version of this beauty in the future.

And that would be the biggest obstacle for them getting the type into the US market. Right now, the airlines here love those Embraers and Bombardier-type aircraft because they can now offer a greater variety of destinations, more flights per day and they can fill those seats easier than they can with the larger jets. So there's definitely a market for regional airliners. But because they get such constant usage, after-sales and maintenance support is very, very important. 18-22% below the price of Embraer or Bombardier is super competitive; but it'll also raise a lot of questions. Why does it cost so much less than the competition? Large corporations live in constant fear of lawsuits and thus their lawyers run the show, so they'll want to make sure they're not buying a fleet full of Flying Pintos. Will the maintenance/service costs over its lifetime surpass those of the Embraer and Bombardier? And not just the cost of parts and labor, but also terms of downtime since airliners sitting on the tarmac-or worse yet, in the hanger-cost money. Those are some of the tough questions facing any manufacturer getting into this market will have to address.
