graves_09
Err my bad, I was thinking vf 101, which is standing up as the fleet replenishment squadron. 1 or 101 what's the difference right? :)

I would sincerely love to see some of the old colors of my childhood adorning the tails of Navy fighters in the future! I wish I could be so.....
GreyGhost
I was under the impression that F-35C's would be replacing aircraft one for one (if not less) in active Legacy and Rhino squadrons. Not reactivating former squadrons. I hardly think that is within the budget. BUT if they did, I can think of a lot of older and longer serving squadrons that I would like to see reactivated before VF-1 Wolfpack. VF-21, VF-24, VF-31, VF-51, VF-74, VF-114, VF-142.....the list goes on! There are a few legacy squadrons that have been disestablished over the years too. Of course if your really into history then you'll go back to VF-153 Blue Tail Flies etc. But sadly I would expect, with budgets and more capable aircraft and UAV's - The size of the airwings will shrink even more, possibly taking some legacy squadrons with them. VF(A)-31 still exists today ... I don't think we're going to see much color on the F-35C though ... -Gregg Edited December 5, 2012 by GreyGhost

bdt13
The political climate for cluster bombs (CBUs) is reportedly very dark due to concerns over the high number of submunitions that don't explode initially and go on to cause civilian casualties. I believe the US still has some, but doesn't use or plan to use them much. I have read repots that a small number were used in the opening stages of OIF, but that may be their most recent combat use by the US Navy.
