Is that the VFA-81 pilot shot down in Desert Storm?

IIRC didn't VFA-103 do something similar when a Command NCO passed while on a cruise, if it's what I'm thinking of FTD did a sheet with those markings on it.

They did. The CVW-7 Command Master Chief passed away while they were all on cruise, and 103 did something to one of their birds in memoriam. I think I have pictures of it somewhere...

Passing gas, or more likely practicing hook ups since no ext tanks on the SH:

Actually a new SOP. 5 wet is less efficient than single centerline, so it is a the preferred configuration when operations allow for it.

Glad it only took a decade for someone from NSAWC to do the math on how much gas we were dumping...

Now I'm confused again, so let me get this right VFA-86 has changed air wings now as they are coded AC- and no longer NE- must be recent and are they a east coast squadron still based at Lemoore?

Yeah, 2 Lemoore VFAs now with East Coast CVWs and 2 Oceana VFAs with West Coast CVWs. And now VAW squadrons are following suit, apparently due to the E-2D transitions. Lots of effort going into logistics when these guys go to the boat, I assume...
