John MD Kerr
Reference the F-4 at Lackland. It is indeed 149421 VMFAT-106 Here are a couple of photos I took of it in July 1983
11bee
Cool thing is, I only shot these a couple weeks ago... Truly wonderful that the USAF spent the money to repaint these in historical schemes and also to get them out on the airshow circuit. I hope once the F-4 drone program is concluded (they have to be getting close by now), they will still keep these birds flying. However, I am guessing that these aircraft will also be expended as targets or scrapped / used as static exihibits. Once an aircraft is no longer needed, the only thing the AF seems to worry about is how quickly they can scrap them. Not much thought to the historical value of the aircraft. Too bad, I would have loved to have seen an AF heritage flight with an F-106, F-104 and (dare I dream) a B-58!! Regards, John

F106A
Well, wrong scheme or not - anything is better than this :) You can't argue with that! Pretty neat pics though, and I'm glad we have the historical record. Mark
F106A
I was just thinking how ironic it is that the "Gateway to the Air Force" has a former Navy Phantom in spurious markings on display. Mark

code20photog
Code 20where were you grabbing those shots from? Is that the private owned F-4 sporting a new paint job? That's an actual United States Air Force QF-4 at this year's Nellis AFB airshow.
internationalblue
Pics from the web... Now from Airliners, if these have been shown before...sorry. The photographer is Iranian, and seems to be a real airplane guy who loves the F-4 and F-14. How cool is that? Perhaps these cool warplanes are a start for world peace? Lieuwe
Hi people! Currently I am working on a drawing of a 32nd TFS F-4E based at soesterberg AFB in The Netherlands however I am having trouble finding information on the maintenance stencelling on this machine. It was quite prominent and I'd like to recreate it. Does anyone know of a good source for information on this? Does anyone have any close ups of a F-4E with readable stencils especially around the cockpit area I would love to have them. Here is a shot of the drawing as it stands now;
