I believe the stripes on the pylon and LAU are heat-sensitive paint that is part of evaluating how the missile exhaust affects the hardware.

Oh, ok, yeah I can see where that would make sense.

I may jump into the KH F-35C kit next...yikes!

Yesterday, on I-80 Just west of Omaha, an F-105D VERY low level... It was on a plinth but really well placed!

Also 2 days ago, just north of the Iowa border on I-35, 3 T-38A's on plinths, in Thunderbirds livery, at what seemed to be a storage place, really surprised me...

Took a ride out to CLT after work Friday and caught some interesting visitors.

C-130H of the Ohio ANG

A pair of T-1A Jayhawk trainers out of Columbus AFB.  A hundred years ago, long before the Jayhawk was around, I flew Tweets and Talons out of Columbus.

I was having a picnic with my family yesterday when I heard a jet fly over. The park where we were at is near Lunken Airport. Naturally I looked up and yes! There flying overhead was an A-10.

Never seen one of them flying before.

Man, those engines sounded cool when it flew over!

I believe the locals wanted to create a monument to aviation. It is a random spot though!

This was taken, using my phone, last Sunday @ 11:50 am EST. I was heading from the garage to the house when I spotted these guys coming out of the SW and heading NE and moving fast. I ran inside and grabbed my binoculars to get a better look. There were two contrails coming from each jet, I'm pretty sure they were F-15's and not F/A-18's but, they were really high up, hard to tell. I thought it was a pretty cool sight. This is them heading NE.

Wasn't able to get a picture of it but while passing through Charlotte, I saw a very grubby American Eagle CR7 taxi by.  What made it noteworthy was it being in full US Air markings.  Haven't seen anything painted up in those markings for ages..

Last week it was a B-25 and an HH60J. The B-25 must have been at an airshow,

it was Panchito and the Jayhawk was from USCG Air Station at Clearwater-St Pete

here in Fl. Monday it was an Osprey but I didn't get to my camera in time :(---John

All of the mainline legacy US Airways jets have been repainted, but there are still about 40 or 50 (out of 260 or so) regional jets still in US Express colors.

We had an Evelop Airlines A330-300 come in to CLT on Thursday night.  They are a Spanish charter airline, and were bringing a plane load of State Farm Insurance employees back from a trip to Stockholm, Sweden.

On Wednesday I saw a Nasa DC-8-62 ASL come up over my base at 30.000' and then start a wide circle and descending down to about sea level in 15 minutes, then do a low and over then depart back to Fairbanks, AK. This happened in Cambridge Bay Nunavut, Canada. Apparently they are looking at the magnetic pole movements.

As I was about to leave work today, I checked the CLT spotters FB page, and saw an alert that a Qatar 777 was diverting due to weather in ATL.  Of course I ran down to the airport.  It had already landed when I got there.  The ended up parking it on the south cargo ramp, something they don't often do, but I thing the main ramp must have been busy.
