Worldslaziestbusker, here's some close up and action photos of the Skycrane. First up is when the aviation group i'm a member of here in Adelaide, got a tour of one at Brukunga in the Adelaide hills. This is the training center for the Country Fire Service.

Then it was used to fight a fire at an oil recycling depot in Wingfield in the northern suburbs of Adelaide.

Those in action shots are really cool, they really show the angle of attack of the main rotor during loads and lift. Impressive. Thanks!

I had the Honeweel Engine test bed 757 show up at work the other day. Pretty cool aircraft.

it was also pretty cool since it was an old Eastern Airlines bird and we had this in the other week:

Thanks for sharing the Eastern 737 John. I saw this aircraft last week at MIA when I was on my way down to the western Caribbean for vacation. I wonder who owns and operates this aircraft?

Eastern Airlines owns and operates it. The company was recently resurected and they are working towards full sched flights. Until then they are doing charter work including the florida panthers hockey team as well as flights to Cuba.

I was up to the Raleigh-Durham area on Saturday, and had a chance to do a little spotting at RDU. They have a nice overlook facing one runway, and the general aviation terminal has an outdoor deck on the second floor overlooking the GA ramp and the other runway. The Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team flew to Pittsburgh for a game on Sunday, flying this Swift Air charter - last time I remember shooting this plane, it was back on Long Island at Republic Airport as the "Plain Talk Express" flying John McCain during the 2008 presidential campaign.

A bit of action here in Adelaide, South Australia today.

Air New Zealand 787-9 ZK-NZE diverted due to an onboard medical emergency. It was flying Auckland to Perth.

It continued onto Perth approx 2 hours later.

This aircraft did divert here once before and was the first 787 to visit Adelaide. However I missed that one as it arrived here at 1 AM in the morning on the return Perth Auckland flight.

Secondly a rather attractive Gulfstream 550 bizjet arrived. I was told it was George Lucas.

Going back to one of Moose's earlier posts, here's Swift Air's 802TJ on a very bleak and windy day last week at KGRB. It was pouring rain when I stepped out my back door to take this shot.

Arriving shortly after the Swift Air was this Sun Country B737 that, along with a G450, executed a missed apporach due to windshear warnings. A second approach by both was successful.

And finally, two T-38 Talons at KMSN this week. The far jet in the first photo had experienced a mechanical issue on a cross country flight with about 8 other T-38s and landed at KMSN. It spent about a week there getting fixed when the jet in the foreground showed up with a pilot to fly the now-fixed jet home.

Nice catches, Justin!

I went up to the Hickory Aviation Museum today for our monthly meeting, and we had a surprise visitor drop in to the airport, a USMC VH-3D of HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron.

Those are some great pictures of a really cool subject. It's interesting to see how the avionics fit has changed over the years. They have now installed a couple of DIRCM missile countermeasures units; one thing I see that also looks new is that housing forward of the lead DIRCM, almost directly under the pilot's seats. Can't tell from the pics but it almost looks like some sort of optical window facing forward. Maybe a FLIR? Thanks for posting.
