falcon20driver
I've never noticed that the 380 only has reverse thrust on the inboards, but it makes perfect sense. I'd hate to see the fod issues in the outboards if the had it too.
Moose135
It's been a month since I've been to CLT, and I took a run over this afternoon as the AA Astrojet came through.
Jennings
Where's your spotting location at CLT??
Ben Brown
Where's your spotting location at CLT?? Looks like East side, at the end of RWY 36R, near the General Aviation ramps & Customs? I wish AA would use that Astrojet scheme as their standard livery. It looks great! Ben
Moose135
The shots in my last post are from the airport overview, adjacent to the touchdown area of Rwy 18C. Paved parking (most of the lot, anyway), benches, and it's raised above the level of the perimeter fence. I do go over to the Wilson Air FBO on the east side, but only for notable visitors, it's not a "hang around" kind of spot. The new hourly parking deck also offers some impressive views. Ben Brown
Huh. I didn't know they had added a new runway. When I was flying out of there back in the dark ages, they only had two parallel runways and RWY 5/23. I feel old! :D Thanks for posting the great photos! Ben
Moose135
Thanks, Ben! They actually opened 18R/36L five years ago. They have plans to close 5/23 and build a fourth parallel runway, right through the overview. It's still a few years before work is scheduled to start, so who knows what will end up happening. john53
It's been a month since I've been to CLT, and I took a run over this afternoon as the AA Astrojet came through. Who makes these decals? Last time I saw these was about 1964 or 65. My older brother had the Revell 707.---John
dylan
had this guy visit YVR today.
Hueyhogfan13
They practice at Knoxville a lot due to low traffic volume, same thing here in Birmingham. He is a multi-times per week visitor.. No photo, but I almost drove off the side of I-81 jus now, coming from Johnson City, TN home to Abingdon, VA. Passing by Bristol (and a long way from Tri-Cities Regional), I saw a P-8A at about 2000' AGL cruising south paralleling the interstate! No clue what he was doing in SW Virginia/NE Tennessee. Haven't seen a submarine here in ages.
Fellow Hobbyist
I saw the B-29 "Fifi" and the C-45 "Bucket of Bolts" this afternoon. I thought the rain would ruin my plans for sure. Luck would have it though that the rain stopped by the time I arrived at Nashua Airport. I'd never seen a B-29 outside of a photograph until today so I was very pleased to have had the opportunity to see the real thing.
Moose135
Sunday afternoon out at CLT, and I caught the Las Vegas Sands Casino Corp. Gulfstream IV arriving. Most of the time, biz jets don't land on 18C, so you don't usually catch them at the overview. Last night, I saw this big yellow thing arriving across the way on Runway 23 They were heading back to Baltimore, so I was able to run over to the parking deck and catch them in the 18L departure line. Jennings
Looks like I need to get down to CLT one of these days! It still amazes me how Charlotte (the city and the airport) has grown. When I was a kid, Douglas Municipal Airport had like six gates, no jetways, and one baggage claim. I remember seeing Eastern Constellations there!
Moose135
Anytime, Jennings! I'll be glad to show you around.
Moose135
I was up on the hourly deck at CLT to watch the fireworks downtown, but managed to get a little spotting in when this guy showed up. It's a weekly flight from Punta Cana, DR.
Ryan Hothersall
Had a China Southern 787 divert into Adelaide, South Australia today, as it's intended destination, Perth, Western Australia was fogged in. This has been the second 787 to visit Adelaide, The first one was an Air New Zealand one but I missed it as it came in at midnight. Ryan Hothersall
Today here in Adelaide, South Australia, we had a Papua New Guinea registered Lynden Air Cargo L-382, a civil version of the C-130. LyndenAirCargo-L382G-P2-LAC-2 by Ryan Hothersall, on Flickr
tdogg
Last week we were in PEI enjoying a day at the beach when all of a sudden this popped out of the blue at fairly low level(this is without my zoom lens). Was taking part in a SAR exercise.

Collin
Great, not this again. Collin I've almost been hit in this intersection taxing an S-3B from the VX-1 line...red flashing lights sometimes doesn't stop Southern Maryland folks too busy talking or texting on their devices. I've also had the Marines just down the taxiway (to the right in the photo) guarding the E-6's walk out and prevent us from taxing by. Darn USMC troopers wanted to come inside the jet...with both engines turning...and walked right up to the jet. Those were some tense moments. Cheers Edited July 14, 2015 by Collin
ST0RM
Looks like the P-8 is beginning to carry the Littoral Surveillance Radar System (LSRS) canoe. The P-3s carry it as well. Jeff
wardog
Sorry, no airplanes pictures for this post but you'll understand. Spend a few days this week at the Lockheed Martin F-35 plant in Fort Worth and can honestly say the only way to describe the facility is "Amazing"! Aside from being gargantuan, it's also very clean. You can clearly see they spared no expense as everything seems to be state of the art or new.....but I guess that's to be expected. Even something so simple as an engine stand looked like an engineering masterpiece. I had a hard time understanding the complex design as the engine stands I was accustomed to seeing back in the 80's during my F-18 days seem prehistoric by comparison. If anyone ever has the rare opportunity to visit this place do not pass it up!
Moose135
By dumb luck, I caught the XTRAirways 734 arriving on a weekly charter from Montego Bay.
