Chris Kethan
Could someone please give me some ideas for loading up my Hornet? I'm building it for a good friend of mine, and I want it to look good..(and accurate) I'm going to use the TwoBobs VFA-25 sheet. I don't have the sheet yet, so I'm not sure what time frame the decals are for.... Also, in addition to the weapons, I need to know what pods I need to add that correspond to the weapons. Here are my choices: AIM-9 Sparrow AMRAAM HARM HARPOON/SLAM GBU-10 GBU-24 JDAM Maverick Mk 82 (slick & snakeeye) Drop tank AN/AAR-50 AN/AAS-38 Flir AN/ASQ-173 LDT/SCAM I'd appreciate any help! CraigSargent
From what I've seen, VFA-25 in OIF carried three wet (drop tanks on centreline and two inboard underwing pylons), both legacy pods (FLIR and LST/SCAM), AIM-9 on the wingtips and a symmetrical load on the underwing outboards. You could go with AGM-88, GBU-10 (have very rarely seen the -24 on a legacy single seater), JDAM or Maverick. Best place to look is www.navy.mil, go to the featured galleries and search for VFA-25 if you want to have alook to see what they used. Some pretty good pics there. Regards, Craig. Edit: Here are a few links to images of VFA-25 Hornets http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/pho...N-9951B-024.jpg http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/pho...N-9951B-013.jpg http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/pho...N-9593M-008.jpg One with SLAM-ER and guidance pod (nothing available in 1/32 though) http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/pho...N-9593M-041.jpg Assymetrical load - Paveway and Mk82 http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/pho...N-9593M-086.jpg http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/pho...N-9593M-031.jpg Edited November 1, 2007 by CraigSargent
Brian P: Fightertown Decals
2 drop tanks (1 centerline, 1 port side) 1 Mav, 1 GBU-12, Flir starboard center/Amraam port center, 1 Harm. I really like the dual loaded GBU-12 on a ?CVER? but don't know if they were doing that back then. Just my opinion of what looks cool. -brian

So far as i know the wing mounted drop tank was mounted on the starboard side so it wouldn't interfere wit the FLIR but otherwise that's what i stuck on mine. Great kit to build, enjoy! F-16 Weapons
I am thinking about building my 1/32 Hornet with a centerline tank, GBU-24 on one inboard side, JDAM on other inboard side and dual AMRAAMS on the two outboard wing stations with AIM-9's on the wingtips.
