bdt13
Holmes- thanks for looking! FlyARGuard - yes, 78-0811 is an ex-OK ANG bird as you pointed out. You have sharp eyes! This is noted on my Webshots page as a caption to this photo, but I neglected to explain that here on ARC. I was speaking to one of the flight crew in the cockpit (a Nav I believe) and he told me that the heat out in OK had toasted a lot of the insulation on the wiring, and the Pittsburgh folks have needed to do a lot of work on this. Maybe these planes don't like the change in climate?

jinxx1
jinxx1 Very nice photos... The second photo..what is that please? If you mean the second photo of the MC-130W, then that is a 30mm gun. It gives the MC-130 a limited gunship cabability.

jinxx1
Yes I did mean that ONE...Ah,thank you... It is a pretty neat inclusion on the Dragon Spear, since the MC-130s do all sorts of spooky special ops stuff that gun gives them the ability to suppress fire.

SteveV22FE
Mark, I saw on the Dyess web site that the base just go their 12th J-model. Are all the Dyess 74-XXXX Herks going away and getting replaced with J models? If they are, I'm going to miss seeing all the old birds I used to work on.
