Boman
Hi Title says it all - tried Tamiya's homepage, but neither the US or Japanees page reveals what markings are included, except there are 3 options? Question then is wich 3  Looking forward to hearing more Thanks!
latormentabritanica
I've looked all over for anything saying which markings are included, but no luck. I've only had Tamiya decals work once, so I don't even bother with them these days. That staff car looks rad though.
Old Blind Dog
What's the kit number? Is that the same '42 Ford staff car that Squadron is offering in a built-up/pre-painted form for way more than I'm gonna pay if I can eventually get it as a separate kit? Been looking forward to this for a long time! Old Blind Dog
Keith Burns
The markings tamiya have displayed are from the 343rd FS 55th FG, late summer '44 after they changed from their P-38's in July. -keith Edited December 3, 2007 by Keith Burns
Boman
Thanks Keith, I`ve noticed that too. What I was wondering is what are the other 2 marking options in the kit?
Keith Burns
Thanks Keith, I`ve noticed that too. What I was wondering is what are the other 2 marking options in the kit? DOH! and there was me thinking I was being all clever an' all.
Boman
FOUND IT :P Thanks to a thread in another post here, you can see the other 2 options here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10065025n2/40/2 First a 356FG example, while the second is 4FG
Keith Burns
Great site but one question on the Staff car. It has a metal chassis (quote) "for realistic weight and extra impact" ? What, for when you throw it at someone ?? Just wondering why Tam' are including expensive (probably) metal chassis in the vehicle kits. -keith
Boman
It's probably a conspiracy - Tamiya and the Postal Service against the world. Extra shipping weight means extra bucks for the Postal Service - guarrantees the xmas bonus
latormentabritanica
Is it just me, or do the instructions show a new, one-piece canopy?
MikeC
Well I spy 356th FG nose markings (blue diamonds on red background).
Keith Burns
Is it just me, or do the instructions show a new, one-piece canopy? Yep, it's just you. If you look at the clear sprue there is one windscreen and the two sliding parts. -keith
jrallman
i am a bit unsure why they have a metal chasis on this one as well since almost all other 1/48 vehicles they sell (not the tanks and such) have styrene chasis. I think the only one that does have a metal chasis is the deuce and a half.

I think the only one that does have a metal chasis is the deuce and a half. Which ones have styrene chassis? I have not come across any of their 1/48 armor line that does not have the metal chassis, including the tiny 250/3 Greif I just picked up. Just wondering.

Question then is wich 3  Looking forward to hearing more Thanks! The markings are for The Millie G, Maj. Edward B. Giller, CY*G, 343rd FS, 55th FG. Blondie, Lt. Marvin W. Arthur, QP*U, 334th FS, 4th FG. Margaret/Milly, Lt. donald F. Jones, PI*O, 360th FS, 356th FG. The decals look good. ( I hope that they work!). You also get masks to do the nmf forward section of The Millie G's fuselage. HTH. Lou Correri

Lou Correri Methinks I must do that one - years ago I built the old 1:72nd Revell kit with those markings iirc, you remember, with the sliding canopy and red rear fuselage, it will be an interesting exercise to do it right, and in a larger scale. And I firmly believe that you can never have too many Mustangs.
