jack52
who can tell me what this detail on academys f-16 1/48 viper 'flying razorbacks' is ? can't find it on real plane pics. the kit shows it on both sides of the tail. regards, Hans
BlackThor 06
Its a NAV light. I would assume all F-16s have those..? :D BT6
ThePhantomTwo
It's a nav/formation light, the lense should actually be flush with fuselage not rounded and recessed like Hasegawa and Academy have it.Also the front portion of the lense is painted over or the like as well. BlackThor 06
Come to think of it, why F-16s don't have slime lights unlike all other US aircraft? :D BT6 Edited December 21, 2007 by BlackThor

omar
Hello Hans, Actually those lights are not nav/formation lights. They just illuminate the tails that's all :-) But thePhantomTwo is right, the front portion of the lenses is painted over to avoid flashing to the eyes of boom operator during in flight refueling at nights. All vipers have those tail lights. Best Omer ERKMEN From TURKEY

habu2
Come to think of it, why F-16s don't have slime lights unlike all other US aircraft? The UAE Block 60s do...
ThePhantomTwo
Actually those lights are not nav/formation lights. They just illuminate the tails that's all :-) True, but it sounds better than "the light that shines on the tail"
