C-17 Globemaster III

Recommended Posts

Nice Images. Thundergrunt. wake is smaller than you think.

The C-17 At Fairford in 97 did a full short field landing (ok was empty) but we were amazed at how little space it used. They then taxiedm turned on the runway which again was great and this a short max take off.

One thing I will remember from the stop is the mell from the brakes! they had to fly around for a while with the gear down to cool everything off.

In those Pics from 97 you can see a Union Flag flying from the cockpit as the aircraft was actually being flown by an RAF exchange pilot.

Here are the two aircraft at Edwards. First, 87-0025, the first C-17 built...

...and the other test aircraft assigned 03-3121, seen here at a very infrequent Vandenberg Open House

In the forward cargo bay was a palletized flight test engineering station. No one would confirm if it was LAPES qualified.

Since I retired, I've not been up close to any new aircraft like the C-117, seen a few fly by at over 5000 feet. Just not in the right place to get close to them. So Thank You for the nice photos, maybe some day. "Boats"..
