tomcatter727
Cool decals! I know the minicraft 757 tail to long in chord.

PhantomPhreakII
Way cool... Here's a link to the aircraft itself, just in case...(on Airliners.net) Iron Maiden 757 link And a link on the official Iron Maiden website: Iron Maiden webpage link Harald Edited January 18, 2008 by PhantomPhreakII
Ben Brown
Welsh Models. The Minicraft has way too many problems to be worth bothering about. I'll second that! Welsh's is expensive, but it's much better than the Minicraft kit. I think the re-release with resin parts fixes all of the very few problems the kit had, except for the too-small cockpit windows. JasonW
Now THOSE are cool! I love Maiden! Could it be? Could it be that a combat aircraft guy builds his first airliner? You know, I'll bet Bruce has gotten his multi-engine license and flys the thing too.
robert61267
Second the avoid Minicraft recommendation. That has to be the most lopsided, worstd esigned airliner model I've seen. Go Welsh.
PBoilermaker
So many cool livery options for 1/144 757's and an almost complete lack of worthy kits to put them on. I wish DACO's profit/loss calculations supported a new-gen 757 kit along the lines of the recent 737.

So he has the stick time to fly it. As for the name of this bird, I can only think of one: "Aces High"

Sebastijan
And I have a ticket for that plane's flights on 7th-8th August and decals with me as well... have to buy the kit, yet
Ben Brown
I think in this case the cockpit windows are no problem either, given that they're supplied on the decal. And if you're one of those masochists who enjoy clear cockpit windows, you can use the decal to adjust them to size No clear airliner windows for me! Decal windows rock! Ben
tomcatter727
I agree about the windscreen decals, unless you make clear windowns for the entire fuselage and scratch build a cabin to gowith the clear cockpit windows, it just looks weird, having decaled passenger windows and clear cockpit windows, ya know? Spunk-Y
Ok one little question, I ordered the decals, and I got 1 Minicraft 757 lying around (bought it to put it in the colors of the airliner I work for, Transavia Holland) but I now hear it isn't correct. is there someone here who can tell me what is incorrect about the kit before I go and buy me a 60 Euro Welshmodels 757. I find that a lot of difference, 20 euro or 60 euro's
vc-10
The Minicraft's fin is wrong, one wing is higher than the other, and the nose shape is out. I'm sure there's more...

I find that a lot of difference, 20 euro or 60 euro's If you'll excuse the shameless self-promotion, here's my list of the Minicraft kit's problems from my review of Welsh's 757 over at Modeling Madness: -The entire kit has fit problems, especially with the fuselage and where the wings attach. -The airfoil of the right wing at the fuselage joint is 1mm thicker than the left one. I think this is what causes the assembled model to sit with the tail cocked to one side when placed on its landing gear. Thinning the right wing may fix this problem. -Minicraft’s fuselage is 5mm too long. Assuming Welsh’s drawings are accurate, the extra fuselage length is mid-fuselage, because the wing fairing is longer than Welsh’s, and the main gear is farther aft. -To add to the fun, the leading edge of the Minicraft kit’s tail starts the correct distance from the tip of the nose, and the trailing edge hits the correct distance from the aft tip of the fuselage, so the tail ends up being 5mm too long in chord. -The engines point up at an odd angle when attached to the wing. -I’ve seen several reviews mention that the forward fuselage around the cockpit has shape problems. What Minicraft has over the Welsh kit is: -Price -Better area ruling around the horizontal stabs -Better landing gear -No window indentions to fill -Um... that's about it. It might be worth checking to see what kit those decals are made for. I'd hate to see Eddie hanging over the edges of a Welsh tail, or looking odd on a too-big Minicraft tail. :o Ben

theplasticsurgeon
Any word on the answer to which one it is for? Recommended kit for the Iron Maiden decals is Minicraft. This plane has RR engines, but the kit is also available with P&Ws - so it's worth checking. I've got the American Airlines kit with RR for my Iron Maiden. I used the C-32A Evecutive Transport kit for this Thomas Cook model - and got the wrong engines! Having scrutinised the kit, I'll agree with the comments about wingfit turning the fuselage by a few degrees. It's definitely inferior to the Minicraft 737-300 kit. However this model has been hung at my work-desk (whenever I'm about to fly off on holiday in one) - and nobody has ever commented that it looks twisted.
