Simpler Way to Preshade?

Recommended Posts

I was using a black Sharpie to mark up my model after some sanding and puttying, and the thought occured to me that a Sharpie could be used to preshade. The distinct black lines can be easily faded by sanding, and there are a plethora of colors not to mention very easy application. Has anyone attempted this before?

if you want to use a pen. use a gundahm marker, they will not bleed and they come in several tip widths. i have used them before to darken panel lines. i've since went back to pre-shading with airbrush. but these are infinitely better than a sharpie.
