Some pictures I took earlier today at Niederstetten Army Airfield, Germany. The visitors are arriving for the Airshow this weekend.

And the next generation of german army aviation:

LANCER.

All of these Helos are just BEAUTIFUL but I wanted to ask you { or anyone } what is that

squarish looking block near the rear..what purpose does it serve?

TIA.

Finally done editing the images from last weekend. The weather was really bad for the show on Sunday. I did not go, due to family commitments. However, I've been able to attend the "Spotterday" for a small group of 500 spoters on Saturday to watch the final rehearsal.

German Army BO-105 PAH 1A1

Its successor, the EC 665 Tiger (alias PAH 2), doing a flipover

Austria had sent this S-70 Black Hawk

And this Bell 212

And hopefully the venerable Huey still soldiers on for a few years

nice shots Lancer512!

Thought I'd add to the collection with the following items. Most were taken this last Thursday but the grey Griffon is from a couple of years back. Enjoy...

Regards,

John

Holmes and Ken:

Nice to know that you like my pictures.

@ Holmes: It appears to be an ADF antenna, but I might be wrong. I could not find anything on the web about that bulge, but I've seen it on several EC-135, operated as well by the police as civilaian ones.

The engine in these pics is not a T58-GE-16. The -16 has a rectangluar tailpipe and is used on the CH-46E. (There are a few other less noticeable external differences, too). It is most likely a T58-GE-10, as the spec info at the bottom of the info board states.

Here are a few photos of a General Electric T58-GE-16. Used in the CH-46 and a number of other helos.
