CraigSargent
Welcome to the group build celebrating 30 years of 2 aircraft types which have been the backbone of USMC aviation and that of many other air arms around the world. This GB celebrates the Harrier II and the Legacy Hornet, both of which first flew in November 1978. Group build runs from June 1 to November 30 and will be moderated by myself and Dave Roof. Rules - "SOP" 1. This GB is to celebrate 30 years since the inaugural flights of the YAV-8B and the F-18A prototypes in November 1978. As such, only aircraft which are directly related to those two families are eligible. These are: a. For the Legacy Hornet, eligible builds are: F-18 protoypes and FSD aircraft, F/A-18A, F/A-18B, F/A-18C, F/A-18D, F/A-18A+, CF-188 and EF-18. This means aircraft from USN, USMC, Blue Angels, RAAF, CAF, Spain, Finland, Switzerland, Kuwait and Malaysia, and aircraft which were painted for marketing purposes i.e. IF you can produce an original photo of an F/A-18 in French colours (even if the original was doctored by McDD/Boeing), then that is acceptable, but no fictitious markings for this GB. b. This means the following are NOT eligible: YF-17, F-18L (based on the YF-17), F/A-18E, F/A-18F, EA-18G. c. For the Super Harrier, eligible builds are: YAV-8B and FSD aircraft, AV-8B, AV-8B Night Attack, AV-8B II+, TAV-8B, EAV-8B, GR.5, GR.7, GR.9 and T.10. This means aircraft from the USMC, USN, Spain, Italy and RAF/RN. As for the Hornet, aircraft in photos doctored by the marketing department are eligible on proof of the photo, but no fictitious markings. d. This means the following are NOT eligible: GR.1, GR.3, AV-8A, EAV-8A and AV-8C, FRS.1, FA.2, T.2, T.4, AV-8S, TAV-8A, TAV-8S or any other early Harrier variants. 2. Entries may be partially started on June 1st, but not beyond fuselage halves joined - around 25 - 33% done. 3. The moderators have the discretion to determine eligibility of a particular subject. If there is a question of eligibility, ask the mods for clarification. 4. Any aftermarket, modifications and decals can be used, just remember no what-ifs. 5. Have fun.
