Pavelow Stencils in 1/48

Recommended Posts

The non-service specific stencils would be fine. A PaveLow is a USAF helo though, not a US Marine helo, so don't use anything that says USMC or Marines. You could get some 1/48 aircraft decals for the USAF specific stenciling like the tail letters and # code. They might not be accurate squadron code and numbers, but would look close enough. Another option is to make the USAF specific stencil decals yourself out of computer decal paper. That way you could get the squardon numbers and tail code correct.

Thanks for the info.Does anyone have any close up fotos of the tail band of 551 SOS squadron and I remember seeing some artwork of a hornet with 3 miniguns on the inside of one,but can't remember where i saw the pics.

If you go to www.thepavecave.com and look in the photos section, you will find pictures of the tail flash for the 551st.

One thing to keep in mind about the Pave Low when it comes to stencils. There is not one single Pave Low that has identicle stenciling. Most have some, but not all on them. And if you look at a couple lined up next to each other, you will see that they are not the same. For instance, if you look at the engine cowlings, you may find that one has the "Danger Air Intake" stencil on one side, and not on the other (-1652 is like that) etc. And some don't even have them at all. So if you want to stencil a Pave Low your best bet is to pic a bird and see how it's stenciling is done. Because chances are, it won't be the same as the next one.
