Hajo L.
I´d like you to present the "Black Cat" Catalina by Academy in 1/72. The kit is a typical "Academy": Quite cheap, excellent exteriour details and fit, medoicre interiour details and very thick decals that even Mr. Mark Softer couldn´t get straight... Inspired by the heavy weathering shown on the model of the box art I chosed to do the same. I painted the whole model (except for the flaps and the parts that are "Non-metallic" on the original bird) with silver and then applied a thin coat of black. At some places the silver is shining through, and I also scratched some of the color off the metallic base, simulating scratches and heavy wear. I like how the model came ou tin the end, only thing every one should be aware of when building this model: The front gear need some additional reinforcement, otherwise it will break at the first contact with the ground.
