DonSS3
I took about 60 photos of the CH-47 now on display at Ft Campbell, KY. The aircraft is apparently a very early CH-47 (notice the dataplate, 1962!) and was most recently in service with the CA NG. Unfortunately due to the condition of the plexiglass and the sun angle, I wasn't able to get any good cockpit photos. Photos can be found here: http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b229/DDonSS3/CH-47/ Some examples: Comments welcome. If I missed any particular area that someone needs more details of, please let me know and I'll due my best to get them.
11bee
Nice pictures, thanks for taking the time to post them. That is sure a tired looking Chinook, any idea what model it is? John
DonSS3
Nice pictures, thanks for taking the time to post them. That is sure a tired looking Chinook, any idea what model it is?John John, thanks for the comments. As to the model, I'm assuming that with the Data Plate saying HC-1B, that it's a Alpha-model. Of course, I'm not really familiar with the CH-47, so that's just an assumption. I don't think it was updated to Charlie standards, but I could be wrong. Ishthe47guy
I'm really familliar with the CH-47 (insert evil laugh here), & it's an A model. I looked at the rest of the pics & the dead givaway is how the aft pylon tapers to a point, not to a blunt end, which only the A models had. Also, the twin wheels on the rear gear is another A model feature. Chris "The Civilian Hooker" Ish

Did you happen to notice if the AH-56 Cheyenne there had been recently painted? It appears that the other aircraft may have been repainted fairly recently, so I was wondering if that might also be the case with the Cheyenne. I am hoping to get to Ft. Campbell this Summer to photograph it. Thanks...
DonSS3
I don't think much has been done to the Cheyenne for awhile. Although, I do think they've since added the third blade to the (pusher) tail rotor. I have a bunch of pics posted on Photobucket here: Details: http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b229/DDo...onal%20Details/ and here: Walkaround: http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b229/DDo...-56%20Cheyenne/
oldHooker
Nice photos Don! It's always good to see reminders of this aircraft's great linage, thanks Don! There's a page that tells more about it at Chinook Helicopter DOT com... http://www.chinook-helicopter.com/history/...8/61-02408.html Take care, Frank
