DutyCat
I have the ROG 1/72 F-4F, but I might like to build it as an USAF F-4E. Any differences?
Dave Williams
Froam a modelling standpoint, the main difference is that the F-4E has slotted stabs and the F-4F has unslotted stabs.
Archangel
From what I remember also the F-4F is not able to carry AIM-7 Sparrows so you will need to fill in the missile wells for them.
Vesper
Did the Fs have their sparrow recesses filled in? 'Cuz I recall seeing a picture of a F-4F ICE fitted with an AIM-120 in one of the forward wells. Ves
DONG
The sparrow wells were not filled in. Don
speedlimit
I guess it all depends on the timeframe of the F-4F you are modeling. Eric
ThePhantomTwo
While at Red Flag over several years,us former F-4E crew chiefs always made a bee-line over the the German F-4 spots to look over thier birds and talk Phantom talk(and we'd show them our F-16's after getting the trip commanders approval),biggest things that popped out for me were the cockpits/avionics and the ejection seats(along with the non-slotted stabs),the seats having the european(or RAF type if you will)type harness system. All the times I was around the non-ICE and ICE F-4F's,they all had the Sparrow wells. What unit are you thinking of doing the markings in?And what timeframe?
JasonB
Guys, he's making an F-4E from the F-4F kit, so regardless, he wouldn't need to fill in the wells...
