newca96
It's pretty new to me, I never know the Falcon can be folded that far even more than a natural Navy bird... Is it ready for aboarding the C-17 or what?
B-1 Nut
If I am not badly mistaken that is an airshow display model. It is folded up to allow it to fit into a trailer for transport. I'm pretty sure it doesn't fly.
Boman
This is AF75-0745 - one of the first FSD versions of the Viper, used originally to perform testing and concept evaluation. After service it has been modified to become a USAF recruitment tool, and because they transport it by trailer across the country have installed the foldable fins and wings that you see More details here: http://www.f-16.net/f-16_fighting_falcon_airframe-3.html

newca96
Thanks for the info, now the problem is when will Tamiya release this babe...Orz~
Spook498
Thats kinda neat! I know out here, the Navy has a Skyhawk that they use for airshows and parades. The main wing is split to fold up, and the tail tip folds over to one side. Then, the tow tractor that goes with it, has a modified hitch so it can be under the A-4 with the nosewheel up in this hitch, and guide the plane up on the roll back flatbed it rides around on. Blennidae
It would make for a very interesting scratchbuild project for someone WAY more talented than I am.
Steve jahn
With all the F-16's at DM, why would they have to pick basically the first F-16 besides the first two test planes? That kind of sucks.
Tracker
With all the F-16's at DM, why would they have to pick basically the first F-16 besides the first two test planes? That kind of sucks. cause if they didnt i would just be rotting out in the arizona sun with the rest of the f-16's that are there consider this a new lease on life as opposed to mutilation Tracker
Aggressor Supporter
I have yet to see that folding F-16 in person at an airshow, but would like to. It must look cute.
mario krijan
Nice viper...not bad idea for building such model...
majortomski
The USAF did that with the sole XF-92 too. I helped cut the hinges off to get it back to NOrmal for display in the USAFM
GreyGhost
I believe they still have an F-15 set up like that also ... They usually have them at events where flying in isn't possible like county fairs, etc ... Gregg
