Hi all

Sorry to be a pest, but has anyone built the Hobby Boss 1/48 F/A18a kit? And if so How does it build out of the box?

Haven't built it (but I want to) Apparently, the intakes are a bit mishapen, it includes alot of non-A-model ordinance, and there are some ecm bump inaccuracies. But I beleive the kit goes together alright. Its ripped from the 'Gawa molds, see cybermodeler.com for a review of the kit.

Hi Evolution,

I have built the 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18A. It compares to the Hasegawa kit however it lacks a couple of things. I wanted mine as a HUG Update RAAF Hornet so I had to scratch build tail strengtheners, square up the round tail tops and add the ECM pods on the trailing edge of the tails. The cockpit is quite detailed but I decided to use the Eduards Hasegawa P/E to add a little more there. I also had to scratch build home made bird slicer aerials on the nose.

The kit went together reasonably well with only minor issues with the nose fitment (apparantly the Hasegawa kit has the same issues from what I have been told). The only other issue I had was that there are no lowered hinges if you want the flaps in the down position. I had to cut and modify the kits ones. Overall though a nice kit.
