Tomcat RIO
my 1st post of this GB. making a gr3 from hasegawa, plain OOB the excellent fit of hasegawa meant that little putty and sanding was needed and i progressed quickly to the priming stage. well actually, i'm having my own harrier GB right now, a gr1 for the matchbox gb, and 2 1/144s for mcair. will update with more photos soon. Tomcat RIO
used a mix of paper template and masking tape to do up the camo templates. by the way british green already painted, i missed photos of that step masking removed thrusters added as it stands now as a side note. i am having a great time with my other harriers. a 1 man GB if you call it. the 1/144 gr7 and gr9 is for the McAir GB. the Gr1 missed the matchbox GB deadline.. Tomcat RIO
applied the decals on a gloss coated surface, sealed with gunze flat coat. declas were oob, a bit thick, and very minute silvering for 2 small pieces. but otherwise works fine with decalset. Tomcat RIO
thanks for the kind comments guys! as for the subtle shading method, it was a tedious process. after pre shade and the normal green and greys were sprayed. i did a post shade with very thinned black along the panel lines. when that dried, i added 1 drop of light grey to the green and grey, and did some random patches on the bigger panels. hence it breaks the monotonous tone of the colours and added to the subtle shading
lgl007
Lovely job on that Harrier mate... really great. Love the post shading you described. Really adds depth to the paint job. -Greg
