turnerdad
Hi, I'm new to ARC but those of you from Britmodeller should know me. I'm a UK resident, but there seems to be a lot of Americans on this site, so I thought I would add brief updates of a project I'm working on, title says it all. Very famous aircraft, for a long time holder of the world air speed record. Sadly crashed at the 1979 Reno air races, the pilot Steve Hinton miraculously survived. Hoping to have it finished ready for the UK Nats in November. I will be casting up parts once the pattern is finished, which is very nearly done now. Then have to make custom markings. Canopy will be cast in clear resin. Follows on from my Voodoo build last year. Cheers
mkimages
Way to jump right in, welcome. Your Red Baron is looking quite impressive so far. I can't wait to see more pics as you progress. Judging from the pic of Voodoo, it's going to be a stunner. The Red Baron is my all-time favorite racing plane, has been since I saw her fly at the 1979 Homestead, FL races six months before the crash. Thanks for sharing your build with us here. anotherP51nut
That is beautiful, painstaking work! If you are creating patterns for a kit I'm sure it will be a great seller! I know I would be interested. Cheers, Richard

KenM
Welcome to ARC. A couple of stunning pieces of work, and if you would be casting up pieces for a kit I too would be interested. Ken
turnerdad
Thanks for the kind welcome, I looked for an introductory page put couldn't find one, which might be me being blind. I usually reside over on Britmodeller which is very similar to here, many of you will probably know it, indeed I recognise a few names here. I an not intending selling it as a kit, but I will be making a few available depending on the mood of my casting buddy, maybe 10 or so. I am doing a full build thread there, come and have a quick shuftie it's a cool site, with as the name suggests a British slant. I will post now and then, maybe when finished. If anyone is desperate for one, it will be a case of first come first serve, with certain conditions as it is not exactly Tamigawa if you know what I mean. vjhl2000
More info of this project can be found here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17772 I think there would be more interest in the resin parts of this plane than the promised run of 10. Why not sell the masters to someone who already has a resin kit business ?

I'm a big fan of round engines but the Merlins and so on also get my blood running a bit faster so I'd be interested if I could at all afford it. Great looking so far.
