British Phantom seats

Recommended Posts

All variants (F-4K/M etc except the F-4J(UK) had different seats. F-4J(UK) had the seats as used by the USN.

Blows my theory out of the water then!! <_<

It's just a different subtype of the same basic model of the Mk7 thought, isnt it? Or am I way off?

edit-After looking on the MB website they list the UK Phantom seats as the 7A and H7AF, and the US Phantom seats as the H7 and H7AF. Is the H7AF a common Naval variant of the seat that is underwater capable maybe???

The British F-4s used a version of the Mk.7 seat which was fairly similar to the US version.

From a modeling standpoint, you could probably get away with a US seat, especially in the smaller scales.

From what I've heard, the F-4J(UK)s were delivered with USN seats, which required that the aircrew wear US harnesses. However, later in their life, they were replaced with proper RAF seats from retired FG.1s and FGR.2s.

The harenesses (on the FG1/FGR2)where the same as on GAF ®F-4's, very different from US F-4's

Some modelling manufacturer (True details?) did them as photo edged parts.
