Joseph Osborn
Fireball Modelworks is proud to announce its first traditional screenprinted decal set, printed by Microscale. The subject is US Army OH-58D Kiowa Warriors in the USA, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan and is available in 1/35 scale for the Academy kits. "Skulls and Spurs" includes markings for eight different Warriors, along with stencil, Hellfire missile, and rocket pod decals. As the name implies, many of the subjects include skull motifs; "spurs" refers to the cavalry scout mission carried out by the Kiowa Warrior. This set is designed to complement the recently re-released 1/35 OH-58D resin update set from Werner's Wings. Floyd Werner and I have worked closely to bring you the best and most accurate products for your OH-58D project, and there is still something more to come in the hardware department... The price for this set is $12 plus shipping. For full details on the new decal, please visit my website, http://www.fireballmodels.info. Floyd S. Werner, Jr.
Joseph really did all the work. All I did was offer encouragement and advice. Congrats on the new sheet. It is long overdue. We as helicopter builders need to support projects like this and then who knows what will come out. LOL One of those Warriors will require something special, MPLH gear. They are at the metal casters now and hopefully they will be here within two weeks. I will let you all know when they are. Congrats again to Joseph for a job well done. Cobrahistorian
Great options! I think I've got some shots of 71G out there somewhere. It still had the skull and crossbones on the tail as of March 2007. Used to walk past it when headed out to the radar-bird row at Hanchey. Cobrahistorian
;) Joe's has the markings for May 07.... Well, I guess he's right then, ain't he?! :) Last time I was up at Hanchey was July 16th 07 when I got my wings. Took my parents and in-laws up there to see a -64 up close. It was there then too. Honestly, I just missed the date on the profile.

Mike H.
The sheet looks great! You have some Apache decals in the works? Mike H.
Joseph Osborn
Thanks for the response I've gotten from this release-- it's a real encouragement! Is Fireball going all-silkscreen in the future? Only for releases that I think have a reasonable chance of selling enough copies-- within a short time-- to recover the cost of printing. The sheet looks great! You have some Apache decals in the works? Nothing that's organized, unfortunately.
Joseph Osborn
SA-WEEET!!!I had some customs done for 60022, the D troop 1-7 bird I got to ride in at Anaconda. Here's some detail shots of her; http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v477/medicmanscott/OH-58D/ I had no idea these were in the works.....I guess somebody found my pix, thank God! Dang-- those are some good pics! Anybody doing this particular subject needs to study these pics for weathering ideas.

B-1 Nut
I have a question that might seem ignorant.....shocker. I have Mr. Werner's OH-58 upgrade. I plan on getting Mr. Osborn's decals and doing the Ft. Rucker trainer. Question is: Will I use the OH-58 upgrade from Mr. Werner if I am doing the Ft. Rucker trainer? If not, I will probably sell it because I will never need it. When I bought it I had no intentions of doing a Ft. Rucker bird, but now that there are such perfect decals for it, I want to make sure that the resin update is necessary for the aircraft in the decals. I'm asking because I know nada about 58s.....or any helo for that matter. Thanks in advance for your response. JED

Only the punisher scheme you have to wait for Floyds landing skid set.
11bee
Joseph, Those decals look great, can't wait to get them on my KW. The check is going out tomorrow. Just wondering about two things - Any idea what the date is for the marking for the 10th MTN division KW (the one with the squat gear)? Any photos out there for the SATCOM rig on the 101st KW? Didn't think that OH-58's were flying in Afghanistan, thought they were too underpowered for hot and high conditions. Good luck on this decal set, hope it sells well. John John, The photos that Floyd sent me of the "Punisher"-marked Kiowa are dated May, 2008. I do have some very up-close-and-personal photos of the Satcom antenna on a Kiowa that passed through here a few months ago. I've thought about making it with photoetched parts and sending it to Floyd to add to his update set, but I haven't told Floyd that LOL!! And yes, the Kiowas are most certainly flying in Afghanistan-- the Pakistanis shot at a pair of them on routine patrol a couple of weeks ago! Joseph

Just my 2 cents this is a great looking sheet. KiowaFixer
