Helo_Dud
Here’s a project I finally was able to finish this afternoon. It’s AFV clubs 1/35th M88A1 Armored Recovery Vehicle. It’s pretty much built out of box with a small handful of resin gear, water/ammo cans. The barbed wire was made of plastic screen. The 55 gallon barrel came from either Tamiya or Dragon. The mud holes were drilled on the rear sprocket wheels. I did take some photos but the lighting wasn’t right, so these are the best pics so far. Once I can take better photos I’ll post a few more. More can be seen here. M88A1 Thanks, Joe Edited October 20, 2008 by Helo_Dud

speedlimit
Nice build Joe. What paint did you use? Eric
Gambler
Very nice Joe! Been tempted to do one of these myself, and yours turned out excellent. Cheers, Jeff.
Helo_Dud
@ Eric...It was painted in Tamiyas colors. I mixed XF-57 Buff + XF-55 Deck Tan till I got the shade I wanted. After it was dry I mixed 90% rubbing alcohol + 10% XF-55 Deck Tan and sprayed to highlighten upper areas. The photos shows the paint to be dark, here is a pic that's lighter. @ Jeff...I say go for it. It was a pretty simple build. A few things, don't install the boom untill your complete with the last step. Doing so will keep the boom out of the way and flopping around. Besure the wheels fit onto the arms before your finished. There are poly-caps in between the road wheel and I found some that were tight. Thanks, Joe
HeavyArty
Looks great Joe. Where did you get the fire blanket holder, orange cylinder in the road wheel on the left side? The stowage looks great too.

HeavyArty
ive seen atank like this with a dozer blade on the front of it, do you know what kit that is, and manufacturee? Its not a tank, but an M88A1 Armored Recovery Vehicle, a big wrecker basically. It is made by AFV Club. Joe identifies it in his initial post. Amazing what you can find out when you read the whole thing. It has a blade on the front.
Icehound
A very nice looking ARV Joe,I have the kit in the Armour Stash and it will certainly move up the pile after seeing how yours turned out. Regards Mark
Helo_Dud
Thanks Guys, Had a great time building it. I'd like to do another soon. My great friend Arnold (Sopmod6) gave me the German version. I plan on doing it American in NATO 3 tone colors. @Bill...like Gino said it's AFV Club M88A1 Armored Recovery Vehicle. This recovery vehicle has a plow blade on them. @Mark...believe me you'll enjoy this kit very much. Happy Modeling, Joe
