Olympic bicycle (Lotus).

Recommended Posts

Scratch built model of the Lotus bicycle as ridden by Chris Boardman from a few years back (at the time a revolutionary design). Made mainly from various thicknesses of plastic sheet, scratchbuilt pedals, handle-bars from aluminium tubing (although the rear sprocket/chain/chainwheel/crank arms were modified from a Protar bicycle kit). The wheel hubs, spindles, stearing column were machined from aluminium rod and the saddle was plug-moulded in plasticard.

Finished model was completely covered in carbon-fibre decal (although a bit difficult to see!) and all lettering was from Letraset, spare decals and hand painted to achieve the final result. Scale is approx. 1/9.

Great work and subject! This machine was the peak of technology back whan I was working in the bike industry (pay was terrible but the cheap parts were a bonus!)

Very Nice! I'd buy a kit of that...

Cheers, A
