Mike James
Hi everybody, I'm working on a museum-scale version of the Cessna T-50 "Bobcat" in 3D, and thought you might enjoy having a look. If you'd like to see the follow-along article, it begins on my site at http://www.mikejamesmedia.com/cessna_t50_01.html This is the aircraft originally used in the 1950's TV show, "Sky King". Enjoy! Skyking
Way cool Mike. What are your plans as far as covering? It would be a shame to hide all your work, yet it would be cool to see it done as Songbird too. Cheers Mike (note my screen nic )
niart17
welcome Mike. great job on the t-50. i actually got to fly in a uc-78 at an air show many years ago. pretty fun plane to fly in though a bit bumpy. just curious, have you ever used Solidworks? If so, i may be hitting you up for advice from time to time. that is if you don't mind answering amature 3-d questions. Bill

BOC262
Nice work! What software are you using? I messed around with 3D modeling some years ago using formZ--my crowning achievement was modeling a complete Fokker E.III and a Hawker Tempest II. I was able to do all the wing ribs and "machine turning" detail on the Fokker's engine cowling using procedural shaders. I used textures created in Photoshop for the Tempest. It came out looking OK, but I really didn't understand enough about specularity and lighting to make the image "pop". In the end I had to give up on 3D modeling--all the mouse clicking gave me carpal tunnel syndrome. Here is an image of the Tempest; as you can see, it is flat and lifeless. The background was done in Bryce.
