Waltz41
Hi guys, I'm working on a few 1/48 A-10s right now from Revell and Italeri, and the Italeri kit comes with rocket pods...however, they don't seem to be the same as what the Hogs are flying with now......the ones that kit comes with are longer than the 2 or 10 pylon, and all the pics of A-10s i have, the rocket pods are actually smaller than the pylon. I know I can just chop it down, but is there a 'real' rocket pod out there instead? Also, any ideas on where I can get a good 1/48 travel pod and the carried flare dispenser (SUU-25?) for the OIF/OEF loadouts?? Thanks a lot! Brian
boom175
There is a Travel pod in the hasegawa f-16 kits, The LAU-131 pod is going to be hard to get!! i really don't know if its availible.I heard that it is included in a AH-1 kit but that might be 72nd scale. As far as the SUU-25 flare pod I don't know of any outthere. Should'nt be that hard to build tho
jefropas
The 7 shot rocket pod is included in the AH-1 kit in 48th, and it is the right size, both diameter and length, using my ol Mk.1 eyeball. Funny how the A-10's is so out of whack given its the same manufacturer of both kits and all.....HTH. Jeff
Guard Hog
The LAU-131's are hard to get. I was able to trade for a pair a few years back (I think they came from the Italeri AH-1W or -Z kit). You can modify the ZUNI rocket pod from the Hasegawa weapons set to make an accurate SUU-25 flare pod. Besides maybe some panel lines and such, the big thing is to just make a new, rounded front cover for it (the flares shoot out the back... when they actually work). I used Milliput and was quite pleased. Good luck!
David Walker
The 7 shot rocket pod is included in the AH-1 kit in 48th, and it is the right size, both diameter and length, using my ol Mk.1 eyeball. I sourced mine from a Heller 1/48 UH-1N and comparing it to the photos in Jake Melampy's "The Modern Hog Guide" it appears to be just about perfect:
Hawkins
The LAU-68 from Italeri kit is too long and the one from Tamiya A-1j is too short. The only accurate one is the one from Italeri UH-1. I was looking for a pair a while ago, for an F-16 I was building, nothing, you can imagine.....I ended up scratch building them. Cheers! Emil
KursadA
I sourced mine from a Heller 1/48 UH-1N and comparing it to the photos in Jake Melampy's "The Modern Hog Guide" it appears to be just about perfect: David, do you have other photos of your A-10 build? It looks awesome! Edited December 10, 2008 by KursadA
martin_sam_2000
I have a set from the UH-1N that I will not be using if anybody wants them. I'm building mine as a CH-146. Sean

I found David's A-10 in the Critique Corner with a quick search. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=157846
