I'd like to know what's the difference between ModelMaster Thinner and Airbrush Thinner. I've seen a warning on a model of Thinner that it is not recomended for use with airbrush but I don't get it? The thinner's job is to thin paint, right?

There's no difference at all. For regular enamels like ModelMaster or Humbrol you may get regular lacquer thinner at any hardware store for less money. Only difference between the hardware brand and ModelMaster's thinner is using glossy paints and metallic shades.

It depends on what "Airbrush Thinner" you are talking about.

Are they both Testors brand?

I tried lacquer thinner with Model Master paints and didn't like it as the lacquer was too "hot" and caused the paint to dry before it hit the model leaving a rough finish. I bought some Sunnyside brand "Specs paint thinner" the other day which is mineral spirits, and it is much better and has little to no odor.

Sunnyside
