rom
thanks guys! it really motivate me! Aspide, I used this decal sheet: I generously sprayed the Klir Here is the result: Glossy varnish reinforce contrast. After 2 hours of drying, i started to apply the decals: They stick well, but are fragile. To make them soft, i use Alcohol... very effective, be careful! Decals are too "flashy" on my paintjob... Maybe should I spray them with thinned gray...or would the weathering stage blend them on in the camo? what do you think? voila! bye Edited March 3, 2009 by rom

rom
Hello guys! First , here is the result just after the wash: Then came the salt weathering!! : I first sprayed the surface with water using my airbrush. Then i sprinkled the salt:
rom
Don't hesitate to put a lot of salt. You will be able the remove the excess after drying. I dried it with a hairdryer Then i sprayed some thinned coat of gray and black: Here is the result after removing the salt:
rom
In some places, the effect is too hard. I softened by taping with a coton swab dipped in thinner: here we are!!! i have to correct some things and to add some strains with oil paints. To finish i will coat the entire plane with satin varnish. bye!!
AnthonyWan
That's beautiful Rom! B) Love the salt idea...writing that one down :D
VFA-103guy
Great job!!! However, and this is just my opinion, fading the markings was unnecessary. The colorful markings on the real a/c are (well, were) fairly bright.
Tomcat27
Looking good i like what you did with that salt i may have to try that it looks great. How do you remove the salt and how long do you let it sit on there? Andrew
Jack-Swiss
Hey man...outstanding work indeed!!!!! also the salt technique??!?!woooow....ditto tomcat27....how do you remove the salt? I've tried once but the difficult task was to remove the salt, not the first steps!!! Cheers
rom
thanks guys!! VFA-103 Guy: On my pictures, the markings are bright, you' re right. But i wanted to depict a weathered Cat... Tomcat27 & Jack-Swiss I removed the major part of salt with a tissue. Then to clean it good, i used a wet tissue. After spraying the thinned paint coats, i let dry 10 or 15 minutes... These thin coats dry quickly. And water doesn't attack Humbrol enamel.... bye!
