Lansen
2008 was in many aspects an eventful year. Among other things I finally picked up photography after 10 years of abcense. Bought my first DSLR last Christmas and spent the past year trying to remember what I had forgotten, learning what I didn't already know and and tried to put it all into some sort of context. It wasn't as easy as I had imagined at first, after all a lot has happened since I last used an SLR (must have been high school, back in the mid 90s) but practise makes perfect (or at least improvment....). My Olympus E-510 proved a great learning instrument over the year, in fact it's been so effective that I've already grown out of it.... So, my friends, as 2009 is getting closer by the hour, let me show you some of my 2008. Feel free to comment the pictures if you like, I'd be glad to recieve some feedback :) First outing of the year took place in my own backyard, it was Garrison Day at Ronneby Airbase on May 22nd. Intended as an information event for politicians and high school students, that day also doubled as an unofficial farewell show for the HKP 4C. TP 84 Hercules KV-107 - HKP 4C, CSAR demonstration! S.A. Super Puma - HKP 10A more to come.... Edited December 29, 2008 by Lansen

Lansen
...continued. Couple of snaps from the "graveyard". On my evening run one day in June, I stumbled across something near the track that proved to be the, not just a Draken but the S 35E prototype. The light was near perfect and the evening was warm, so I turned on the spot and went back to barracks for my camera.
Lansen
...continued. Next stop, in contrast to the peace and stillness of the "graveyard", was a much busier place - Duxford, UK and the Flying Legends airshow! B-17 "Liberty Belle" Mustang Dakota Norway C-53. DC-3s are very forgiving to snap, they kind of make the picture themselves (like any living legend I guess). Dutch TB-25N Mitchell "1-2-3-4-5-6....CONTACT!!!" Tailchasing Spitfires on Sunday. They couldn't have chosen a better day to do this number, sunshine and 4/8 of beautiful Cumulus clouds proved a perfect background for the shots. ...and of course, there were great foregrounds too :) more....... Lansen
Still at Duxford... Team Guinot! Pretty girls and noisy radials in formation, what else could you ask for? :D Funny! This Super Stearman used to be based not far from where I live, as a mather of fact I wasn't even aware it had gone overseas... Shuttleworth Collection's Hawker Hind Pearl Harbor survivor - P-40B 41-13297 And of course the ever beautiful Dragon Rapide... Flying Legends was great fun! I shot almost 1600 pics over two days. More.... Edited January 9, 2009 by Lansen

Here I was, thinking the Swedes were an environmentally-concious people and now I see you dump your aircraft in the woods. Team Guinot! Very interesting!

Lansen
Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I'm glad to hear that you like the black & whites, they've been a favourite of mine for some time. To some extent I use B&W to save overexposed (or sometimes underexposed for that mather) images, also works a miracle for "boring" or monotone colours. The Herc shot is a "saved" image that was about to end up in the wastebin when I decided to try a monochrome conversion, in the original image the sky and backround were well exposed while the airplane was near black and the apron completely burnt out... Another favourite of mine is semi mono-conversions where the colours bleed through. It's a fantastic way to add drama to your images, giving them an urban or "semi futuristical apocalyptic" feel. Warmer weather! rofl.gif You wish! :D As a mather of fact it was sunny wheater at Duxford all weekend with the exception of some showers during Saturday. In the meantime the rain was pouring all over Scandinavia for weeks and weeks. Never thought I'd had to go to England to see some sun....
Lansen
Here I was, thinking the Swedes were an environmentally-concious people and now I see you dump your aircraft in the woods. :D Never noticed this boundary layer control mechanism (assuming it is that) on the Lansen intakes. Very interesting! That's exactly what it is. Note how thin it is, Heller made theirs some sort of streamlined profile. You wouldn't belive the things you can find lying in the ground around here;) As a mather of fact, the "graveyard" is a former fire training ground/scrapyard which was aboandoned about 15-20 years ago. Most objects were either scrapped or moved, but the Draken was left for some reason. Edited January 2, 2009 by Lansen

Vliegenier
Most objects were either scrapped or moved, but the Draken was left for some reason. Perhaps they hoped a tree would grow and have lots of Drakenfruit on it ... Thanks for the great pix ! Stef
