Spooky 01
Hey, Spooky is doing Drakens, and in 72nd scale!! Looking really good, my friend! Just a little note on those air scoops though. Aigore has already pointed out they in fact existed on the Austrian Drakens, but only on the left side! So there's just two scoops in total to fit, IF you decide you want them after all.. And on another matter, the fin top isn't all that hard to file to form from a piece of plastic sqare rod. :) But those Drakens sure look really good! And I've just pinned this thread.. Happy New 2009, my friend! Hi Niklas, thanx for the pointers. Feeling some pressure here... I can imagine that You guy's would realy like it if I would give these bird's the attention which they probably deserve. However, that's often when a project hit's a stall so I think I'll just stick with the original plan: OOB. Last year I've only finished one model, just like in 2007 and both of them were bloody helico..... (crap, feathers in my mouth...) No way I make a debut on ARC with one of those wannabee fly-things !!! First some real "Heavy Metal", eventhough it might not be 100% correct. Nice to read that You've pinned this one. Hopefully I'll be able to keep the momentum. Comming week they predict temps as low as minus 10/12 so I'm afraid I won't be able to get these bird's to the paint-shed yet. Might be time to get me one of those handy mini-heaters to somewhat de-frost my attic... Good news for You guy's: the longer this WIP takes, the more time You have to realy goof it up !!! "Check Six....." Spooky.
Najk
Haha, don't you worry Spooky, I think we can goof up this thread just fine without you unintentionally helping us.. :P I suppose you're forgiven for going straight OOB there, I know of the problem you have. Not that it has ever happened to me..... ;) If everything was to be 100% correct we wouldn't be doing much building, just reference searching for ages. But don't worry, I have IPMS Austria's conversion set for those birds, so I'll give'em the treat you want them to have.. ;) I sure can agree with you on that heavy metal thing. Since I began building again some 3 years ago, I still haven't built a single helo. And, by the way, 2009 will be somewhat of a Draken year for me.. ;)
ChernayaAkula
It is very unwise to make comments like that whenever being under the influence of HL(or whatever it is Your drinking/sniffing...)<...> HL??? ;) But I'll PM you! :P On the other hand, if you're on ARC at that that time the PM will pop up right in your face! That's some credible heart-attack hazard right here! :)
Spooky 01
Haha, don't you worry Spooky, I think we can goof up this thread just finewithout you unintentionally helping us.. ;) I'm counting on You guy's...!!! I suppose you're forgiven for going straight OOB there, I know of the problemyou have. Not that it has ever happened to me..... I sure can agree with you on that heavy metal thing. Since I began buildingagain some 3 years ago, I still haven't built a single helo. My advice: Keep it like that !!! And, by the way, 2009 will be somewhat of a Draken year for me.. :P Hmmm, now You realy got my attention !!! One of the Drakens that I wouldn't mind having a crack at is a RDAF bird, like they use to fly in the late 70's with that shabby faded green camo. Now THAT would be a real piece of artwork to have on Your desk !!! "Check Six....." Spooky.
Spooky 01
HL??? Hard Liqeur... ;) But I'll PM you! :P On the other hand, if you're on ARC at that that time the PM will pop up right in your face! That's some credible heart-attack hazard right here! :) Definately to much HL. Watch it guy's: currently he's in the state where he's starting the phylisophical BS & we all know what comes after that...!!! Right; the part were he's starts doing things he won't be able to recall afterwards. Just to remind You buddy: right here on ARC we have everything on tape !!! :P "Check Six....." Spooky. Spooky 01
Looks as if this WIP is starting to come together quite nicely !!! Still missing some stuff... Any suggestions??? "Check Six....." Spooky.

With the pace I'm building in, a Draken year for me would be like 3-4 finished kits.. :P But I do agree on that RDAF bird though. But I'll wait for either a conversion in 72nd scale, or a RDAF release in 48th scale before I try that project.. I've loaded myself with all the resin you can get for the 48th scale Draken, and I'll do a standard blue-green camouflaged Swedish bird, reeaaaaally faded, just as it should be! ;) And of course another demo bird in 48. The yellow 72nd scale you've already seen, perhaps I'll put together another one in that scale... And, of course, an Austrian bird or two would be on the list as well. Oh boy, sounds like I'm gonna be quite busy this year. Do I really have the time to work!? :P And, by the way, I could always try to bring one Draken along on the planned road trip to your place this summer. :) If we don' fly over, that is. Aigore
...Or drive in my new Audi in January 2010.......... ;)
Najk
Well Aigore, that would be quite some time after the air show, which would be one of the excuses for visiting Spooky. And since I know the Dutch really can put on an awesome show, I wouldn't wanna miss it. So you're stuck with me and the old Saab! Bring on the whiskey!!

Hmmm, quite some plan's You got there with that Draken my friend !!! Sure would be nice to see it in person once it's finished. But then again, I would feel real guilty if something would happen to it during the "navigational check flight" al the way down to the south of The Netherlands !!! Might wanna think that one through VERY thoroughly !!! "Check Six....." Spooky.

Spooky 01
Weather-update: * Temp predictions are between -15C and -20C tonight. * Rest of the week: minus temps predicted Forecast for next week: * Freezing, with some aditional freezing and maybe some extra freezing days for some variation in temps... Look's like the paint-shed is going to stay shut for the near future... "Check Six....." Spooky.

ChernayaAkula
Weather-update:<...> Look's like the paint-shed is going to stay shut for the near future... ;) Yeah, colder than the proverbial witch's secondary sexual characteristic! Currently -23°C on my veranda. I usually paint in the same room I sleep in. Which may explain the -ness, but hey, at least it's nice and warm!

Maybe he just doesn't wanna make us jealous of his builds..? If he actually do build....hmm.... The more I think of it, the more I begin to think you're quite right somehow... Spooky 01
Hey dude, thanx for digging up my WIP on these two bird's ! Currently gearing up to do some airbrushing this week and while I was sorting out the part's I intend to paint, I also stumbled upon these to Drakens. Thought I just as well might give them a coat of paint so I dusted them off and made some prep's as well. Who know's.... "Check Six....." Spooky.
