phantom
Here is something I do not normally do. In progress shots. Won't be a huge amount but there will be some. These are 1/48 Hasegawa F-14Ds. VF decals and done up as VF-31 AJ-101 and 111. Edited June 8, 2009 by phantom

phantom
Went back to add these shims for tonight. Should be rock hard for my next day off. If I get all the overtime I need that will not be till next weekend. These shims are there to aid in lining up the intake trunks. Bout' the only add on aprt from the zoom set in the cockpits that I intend on using for these builds. As you see they are real simple. Spue, glued in place. Kay, its almost 5am and I am getting tired. Later.
speedlimit
Love those cockpits! Good start Shawn. Eric

Might borrow the idea for the 1/72 Hase F-14 I currently build. :)
jimz66
Those cockpits and wheel wells came out very nicely indeed. Nice work Shawn.

phantom
Well landing gear is on, and no overtime tonight. I think I should be able to get a bit done tonight. Edited January 13, 2009 by phantom
jimz66
Nice work Shawn surprised you put the landing gear on so soon. Looking good though.
phantom
I know, its weird but I almost always build in the order the instructions tell me too. I just like the plane to sit upright as opposed to risk messing it up sitting on wet paint. Landing gear doors should be dry by now, so I am going to put them on now. phantom
OK, got lots done tonight. Mostly built and ready for the first coat of paint now. Now, its off to bed. Nights between night shifts are great for building models.
jimz66
Nice job on the preshade phantom. Well done.
phantom
No overtime again. Next paycheck is going to suck. Anyway, here is 11 last night And here is just before bed I figure I should be able to start the detail stuff on Saturday or Sunday.
ixgr1
good little production runn (i like it), night shifts are good for that ! did you hand (paintprush) do the pre-shading, rather than the cassums created with an airbrush ? - if so, does this give a less regular finnish ? -steve
phantom
This time I hand brushed, sometimes I airbrush the lines. Depends what kind of mood I am in at the time.
ixgr1
--now here's the big question -do you notice a differance. Just asking caus' im right at this stage with my TARPScat -steve
phantom
If I want tighter lines I hand brush. Really it depends....the other night I did not feel like cleaning the airbrush, so hand painted. Last night of course the main colours were airbrushed. Off to work tonight so they will sit for a couple days to dry.

phantom
Basic weathering is now on. Also the gloss coat. The decals are next. Then a little tone down on the weather on 101.
