MattC
Just a quickie, I rather fancy a 1:72 Ryan YPT 16 on my shelf but I don't seem to be able to find a kit of one. Like this one; I know special hobby did a PT22 Recruit, but I don't recall a YPT 16 anywhere. Possible option could be to modify a PT22 kit, but I'm not sure how easy that would be! Any ideas? Bri2k
High Planes does a 1/72 Ryan PT-20 which looks a lot like that photo. It's a fairly basic limited-run kit, but the results could be nice with a little effort. Roll Models had them on sale for $10 a while back. I'm not sure where to get one on the other side of the pond. Bri2k
MattC
I found one by MPM, I'm not sure what the difference is between a PT 16 and PT 20. http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=MPM72084 I wonder if this is the same kit as the highplanes one?

ross blackford
Hello Matt, No the MPM kit isn't the same as the HighPlanes kit. The MPM is made in the Czech republic and the HighPlanes made here in Australia, just outside the town of Corryong in northern Victoria. I have met the fellow who produces them and he is a good bloke. They do have a website called, strangely enough, High Planes Models. Go and have a look , you might be surprised at what they have there. , Ross.

Deon
Thanks Andre, I seem to have a pile of Dujin models then, all very nicely cast. I think the PT16 will end up in the colours as posted above bright yellow on nmf.
vjhl2000
an excellent book for your project: The New Ryan by Ev Cassagneres "Fascinating account of two of the slickest and most glamorous airplanes of the Golden Age: the Ryan ST (Sport Trainer) and the Ryan SC (Sport Cabin). Chrono-logically organized, thoroughly documented with photos, specs and performance figures, this book is jam-packed with little-known facts and superb photographs. Includes the PT series with Kinner engines." http://www.windcanyonbooks.com/product_inf...products_id=382 Modifying PT-16 from PT-20 / STM is quite easy. Just file away the load carrying longerons in the fuselage. On PT-20 these are on the outside, inside on PT-
