TomcatFanatic123
Has anybody ever heard of using a black Sharpie marker to preshade panel lines? Does anybody think it would work? Just kind of curious, as I'm quite far away from preshading anything on the build I'm doing now.
Steve Filak
I've done it before without problems, but I have heard of instances where the ink bleeds back through the paint, sometimes long after the model is finished. Probably want to be careful with this one :)
bosshog
Some inks are known as "fugitive inks". This means that the ink underneath layers of other inks, acrylics, or enamels shows thru all of the layers above it. Some Illustrators know about this technique. It's more of a "mixed media" approach. I once traced the SEA camo and wrote the paint color onto my primer grey A-10 as a guide for airbrushing with a sharpie. Let me just say it was not fun trying to get rid of it and will never so that again! DOH!!!!
Ricardo
DON'T DO IT!!!! Hope I posted this on time. The effect is simply AWFUL. Learned that the hard way. HTH, Ricardo
Old72s
I've tried it. PollyScale arylics make the sharpie colors run so your preshading turns dark purple under blue and grey colors. Looks odd to say the least.
