Trojan Thunder
Where did it go! Edited February 19, 2009 by Trojan Thunder
MaRiO FDZ
I thought I was the only one that opened the thread and saw nothing :) Take Care
David Walker
Weird. That's twice I've seen this happen in the last few days.
GCA333
Hmm. I'll leave it up for now, until Tim wants to put a new one up.
Patrick_Nevin
Hmm. I'll leave it up for now, until Tim wants to put a new one up. Tim (or rather Tim's PC) has a horrible nauseating virus and his comms are presently down. He sends his regrets and will post again when his ISP is talking again (which at the rate he builds at, probably means with the completion shots...)
GCA333
Thats for letting us know Patrick! I will still leave it up for when he comes back, and then he can decide what do to with this. I had a few viruses two months ago, huge pain.
theplasticsurgeon
Shot of the kit + decals. Hopefully this post will remain this time. This build uses the Airfix VC10 tanker kit - back converted to airliner, then S&M British Airways decals.
theplasticsurgeon
Tim (or rather Tim's PC) has a horrible nauseating virus and his comms are presently down. He sends his regrets and will post again when his ISP is talking again (which at the rate he builds at, probably means with the completion shots...) Thanks Patrick. Well I'm hoping I'm back for good. I've just viewed my posting, so hope everybody else can. I'm not sure what the problem is or was, or if all functionality is restored - but I'll keep trying. She fighting me all the way - the computer not the model. I'm taking and keeping photos, so you might get a picture show or a comentary - we'll see.
theplasticsurgeon
Let's push on while I can. Yesterday I filled all the fuselage portholes
theplasticsurgeon
I'm really struggling with photos, but here's latest progress. Fuselage: I've carved away most of the aft refuelling station. Wings: I've filled the slots for the HDUs, I've removed the incorrect wing fences, I've cut slots for new fences at the inside edge of the slats, and installed them using plastic from a coffee cup lid (neat tip Patrick). Any moulding sinks are also filled.
theplasticsurgeon
Last night I assembled the fuselage. I also started the Minicraft: Iron Maiden B757-200, and the TWA B707-320 projects. Both are at assembled wings and assempled fuselage stage.
GCA333
Looking forward to seeing this, but the situation is completely understandable. Nice to see a Tanker to Civ conversion!
theplasticsurgeon
Bulk update of photos since I've been gone. Work to install new wing-fences, from a coffee cup lid. And that end result. Installation of the wings, and dry fit of the tail.
theplasticsurgeon
Today I've just installed the cockpit glazing. And cycled to Halford for an Appliance White aerosol. I've looked up my VC10 on airliners.net. G-ARVM was at Cosford for the final few years of her career - and I saw her each time I went to the model show there. However there are detail differences in the markings, and I can only depict her during her active airline career. http://www.airliners.net/photo/British-Air...next_id=0460071 shows that she DID have the outboard wing fences that I removed. I've just re-installed them.
oldHooker
That sure is looking good, Tim!! :D Take care, Frank
theplasticsurgeon
State of play today. Cockpit installed and sanded in, new outboard fences installed - hoping to spray the fuselage white tomorrow. and underneath - showing removal of that refuelling station. GCA333
Already looking great, man I love the VC10's!
theplasticsurgeon
And keeping pace with the other two: and unmasked
GCA333
The VC 10 sure is one of the best looking jets built, great progress on this, and all the others. Can't wait to see more
theplasticsurgeon
A bit more masking tonight and I've applied the blue underside.
Trojan Thunder
Nice work as usual Tim! I just picked up one of these kits, well its actually the BOAC boxing and the decals are a bit average. I might have to grab another set from somewhere, I like the BA/BOAC colours onthe VC-10.

I'd prefer the Gold Speedbird colours - it I weren't already doing this one.
vc-10
Coming along very nicely Tim! As you can see from my username, I rather like the VC-10s!
