TF-86 drawings?

Recommended Posts

Peter,

Scant information is available on the TF-86, in fact I am unaware of any scale plans for the model, although there may indeed be some out there. Keep in mind that only 2 examples were ever built AFAIK. In all my available references here is what I know is available:

Squadron/Signal F-86 Sabre in action #33 - has 1 b&w pic on page 35

Squadron/Signal F-86 Sabre in action #126 - has 2 b&w pics and one detail side view on page 47

Crowood's North American F-86 Sabre book - has 3 b&w pics and a 4 paragraph history, including specifications beginning on page 87

Warbird Tech Vol 3 - North American F-86 Sabre Jet Day Fighter - has 2 smallish b&w pics, one an overhead shot and the other a repeat of one included in Crowood's book on page 72 & 73.

HTH,

Rick

Hi

Contact Mr. Garry Asher from the Fox 3 Studios, has the TF-86 in 1/48 scale. I bought one and I can say it is a very fine and complete resin kit. Also He has a lot of conversions too.

Good Luck. :woot.gif: gmasher@netzero.net

Peter,

You might want to try your luck with FAOW F-86. I am not 100% certain but I seem to remember that it included TF-86 drawings. I used FAOW drawings as basis for my 1/48 scale F-86H conversion. They are not 100% correct but close enough. With good photos you´ll find the errors in the drawings. But have someone else confirm that the FAOW really includes TF-86 drawings first!

Good luck!

Martin

I always liked the two seater version of any airplane, and have hoped for a model of the TF-86 for a long time. Almost on subject, I spotted this model at the IPMS Nats in Atlanta in 2005. Built by Master Modeler Phil Hale. Being that the F-86D is one of my favotite aircraft, I thought this was vey cool. It was entered in the Hypothetical Category, not sure if it won, It should have. 1/72 SCALE F-80 CONVERSIONS, ACCESSORIES & DECALS

For converting your F-80C to an earlier P-80A or one of the photo reconaissance versions of the Shooting Star, these kits feature clear cast resin noses to make the windows a bit easier to handle – just mask the windows and paint the rest of the bird! More accurate cockpits (better shaped tubs, instrument panel decals & True Details seats), external conversion parts and vacuform canopies put your stock Airfix or Eastern Express Shooting Star model into a new league.

Mario,

Wow, thanks for that list...I wasn't aware that his product line was so extensive! Right off the bat, I can see 6 or 7 items that I'd be interested in:

F-94A/B correction kit

F-84B/C/D conversion

TF-86

F-86A

F-89H conversion

F-100C conversion

RF-100A conversion

I'll try emailing him again and I'll also follow that with snail mail if I don't hear back. Thanks again for the info!!

I can recommend Gerry's F-100F and F-100C conversions, and his F-100 drop tanks. Last I heard, the conversions were temporarily out of stock. He's told me the RF-100A is on hold, due to lack of reference info (anyone have a good cockpit diagram?).

For the F-80s, his RF-80 and P-80A conversions are great!
