The Gooney Bird, workhorse of the air

Recommended Posts

Pope AFB display, January, 2010.

Note the red stripe in the national insignia. WRONG! It doesn't match the rest of the WWII color scheme painted on the aircraft. Ooooooh, that just tears me up when they do that!! Compare this one to the more accurately painted example on display at Dyess AFB. (I helped paint that one BTW!)

OK I finally broke down and got a PHOTOBUCKEt account.

As some of you may know I take care of the maintenance on the FAA's last DC-3 N34. Sooo here are some of my shots from "THE LAST TIME" in 2010 when 23 DC-3.C47, R4ds arrived at Oshkosh en mass

All are great shots......some dredge up memories of not so long ago. Douglas' DC-3; if any aircraft surpasses the service life of this aircraft it has yet to be built, although the BUFF does come close  ;) .
