New 1/72 B-36 Decal Sheet

Recommended Posts

Our club, IPMS Dragon Lady, has commisioned a decal sheet for our upcomg regional show in July. I just got copies of the artwork back and wanted to share them. Also a quick question, Would this warrant a Print Run of 500? Currently it is set to run at 350 units. The sheet will have decals for 4 aircraft and will be on a full size sheet. I have been informed that retail per unit (at 350 copies) will be 20.00 USD.

Opinions, feedback, advice?

I'd be up for one. Would it be out of the question to include the curved bits of the walkways around the engines? The main long straight portions are easy to do with black trim decals but the curved portions are harder. I'd sure like someone else to do the work for me!

I'd probably spring for a sheet in 1/72, although three of the four options would require significant modifications to the Monogram kit.

Aside from leaving off the jet pods, what other mods are necessary?

Okay, so I'm lazy...... :)

OK, so maybe the mods aren't so major.

I think besides deleting the jets, you need to round off the prop tips, and scribe new bombay doors. Not sure what other changes would be necessary. Personally, I'd like some nice decals with the SAC milky way and white anti-flash scheme. I have the original issue of the Monogram kit, but the decals are utterly useless (just like when they were new!)

A run of 500 seems a bit high to me. 350 is a bit more reasonable, particularly if you can sell some of them through a European or Asian distributor.
